Entire issue, August, 1950, in original wraps, light general wear-only, several tiny closed tears at front edge of front wrap have been discretely and neatly repaired with archival tape on verso, spine fully intact, rear wrap soiled a bit, a relatively bright copy with no mailing label. Story starts at page 192, and includes a short biographical sketch of the young author, and a cameo portrait. According to Paul Alexander's biography, Plath, an aspiring writer and yet a high school student, who had already received dozens of rejection slips from various publications, was notified by Seventeen Magazine near the end of her Senior year that Seventeen would publish the present story in this -- the August, 1950 -- issue. Plath was notably all of 17-years-old. This is the author's first credited appearance in Seventeen, which would go on to host Plath stories and poems for the next several years. She had previously appeared in the November, 1949, issue, but was not credited. From the footnote, "Sylvia Plath loves being seventeen. 'It's the best age.' She lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Life is filled with senior activities, helping to edit her high-school newspaper, working on the yearbook art staff, college weekends. She plays a lot of basketball and tennis and she pounds the piano 'strictly for my own enjoyment.' Jazz makes her melt inside, Debussy and Chopin suit her dreamier moods."
