Later issue of the first edition missing the "First Edition" statement on the copyright page and with the red labels on the spine and front panel impressed on the boards (replacing the paper labels). Some evidence of (?) damp staining along the fore edge of the rear board but not defacing at all. The Pullitzer prize winning novel inscribed by Peterkin to the well known South African writer Sarah Gertrude Millin on the ffep. in 1929 - the year she won the prize. " For Sarah Gertrude Millin/of whom I think with pleasure. / Julia Peterkin/ Nov. 29th. 1929." Personal Inscriptions of this book would appear to be scarce - much more so than the later limited signed "Airplane edition" of 1000 copies which also was a later edition. A nice association..
