Neat ink owner name to top of grey+white vignetted illustrated free endpaper.Bright,crisp, fairly clean,but with very light age-soiling,publisher's original,decorated pale beige cloth boards with double-lined blue ink with yellow in between,printed edged border with an uncoloured pair of Eskimo twins with yellow background to an oblong cartouche-type panel and the title within,above and behind the pair.Slightly darkened spine/backstrip with some minimal bumping and reciprocal creasing,miniscule fraying to both head+foot of same; rear board/cover plain beige and undecorated. Negligible shelf-wear,creasing or bumping to edges and corners - no nicks,splits, tears,rubbing present,and grey+white vignette illustrated pastedowns and both free endpapers,solid hinges without any cracking,signatures and text block each in exceptional condition.Both head+foot of spine/backstrip minimally bumped with reciprocal creasing.Top+fore-edges lightly toned - much less than usually encountered for a book of it's age - but with some minimal (to top edges) and slightly more, but still minimal,sporadic foxing/spotting to fore-edges; contents bright,tight and clean with minimal foxing - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners, would appear unread - apart from my own collation.Assumed half-title page(?) removed,leaving torn vestige of same, following the ffe and preceding the next 'This book Belongs to' grey+white vignetted page.US,8vo HB,1st edn,3-191pp [paginated] includes the author's introduction,X (10) chapters,20 single- page grey+white illustrations and profuse part-page and vignetted illustrations within the text and the book - all by Lucy Fitch Perkins. Plus [unpaginated - i.e without numbering] missing half-title(?), grey+white vignetted 'This Book belongs' etc. page,another grey+white vignetted page with grey+white vignette to recto, grey+white vignetted illustrated title page,grey+white vignetted contents list/ table also with vignette to it's recto,a title separator page with vignette to recto,recto of last page unpaginated and a single page grey+white vignette illustration before the rear free endpaper also unpaginated. Stated copyright as follows: 'COPYRIGHT, 1914,BY LUCY FITCH PERKINS ALL RIGHTS RESERVED,INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO REPRODUCE THIS BOOK OR PARTS THEREOF IN ANY FORM' to reverse of title page.As no other contrary indicative or subsequent publication or copyright dates - this indicates a 1st edn? The title panel on front,is with a different background colour from others listed also claiming to be 1sts with same copyright date of 1914. I have another book from the series - 'THE INDIAN TWINS' see my book ID rja881720 - copyright date of 1930 in identical binding style,also without any further publication dates or issue/edns. Given the published date for that,of 1930 - [Wiki lists its date as 1938!] and binding,could it be I'm incorrect in thinking it (THE ESKIMO TWINS') IS a 1st edn,as there is no other indication that it is NOT? Information welcomed. Since April 2013 and again in March 2015, and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template,altering it's prices,weight allowances,dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too!
