When Frank Costin became involved in car design during the 1950s he produced some unusual and exciting cars.His background in the aircraft industry had given him an interest in and understanding of aerodynamic principles which he applied to the cars on which he worked.He used aerodynamics,not just to make cars which went fast,but also to make cars which were stable, safe to drive and economical in their fuel consumption.In this book Dennis Ortenburger tells the story of each of the cars in which Frank Costin had a hand.Some,such as the Marcos and the Amigo,he designed and built from scratch himself (Costin's definition of a real engineer) while other projects were a case of making
aerodynamic improvements to existing cars.A wealth of photographs and some of Costin's original drawings help to explain his engineering philosophy.
