Four volume set (complete). From the private library of arborist, H B Nicholson (whose signature appears on the front pastedowns). A benign even clubbable set. All four are quarter bound in leather with marbled boards. All four have Dewey classification labels on the spine. All four have clear plastic protective covers (tidy). The spines are gilt decorated and titled; five ridges. "Half-Volume I" is placid. The boards are scuffed and worn but are serene. The leathered corners and spine are worn, marked, cracked. They are content. Within, the early pages have been repaired with scotch tape; they are much worn. The frontis and end pages are foxed. Within, the pages, in general, are calm, very occasionally annotated (in neat pencil), clear, reassuring and neat. "Half-Volume II" is in similar condition to Volume I. The front hinges are vulnerable but the security of the book is unaffected. The frontispage has a previous owner signature. The colour plates are foxed about the white edges. Otherwise accept as the previous volume. "Volume III" is serene. This too is in a similar condition to volume I. The contents though are cleaner and clearer. The colour plates are bright and startlingly vivid. "Half-Volume IV" has some mild storage marks to the edges of some pages. This is shallow. Otherwise, the book fits in with its companions by its condition. A venerable, comfortable, competent, benevolent set. fn. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
