Most of his life was spent as a poor scholar and philosopher, traveling around Europe. In the early 1780s he was an associate of Moses Mendelssohn, but Mendelssohn eventually became intolerant of Maimon's lifestyle and abandoned him. He began to study Kant's philosophy in 1786, and Kant himself was very impressed by his work. This support led Maimon to begin having his work published. Maimon's interest in Kabbalah, Christiantiy - he tried to have a Lutheran pastor convert him--and other controversial philosophies caused him to be labeled a heretic. (Bergman, EJ) Pages tanned and wrinkled from moisture, covers worn and repaired, good- condition. (HebLit-2-10)
