Toured Europe on the concert stage, 1833-48, and settled in Weimar devoting himself to composing, writing, and conductor of court concerts (1848-61). Joined the Franciscan order in Rome in 1861and became 'Abbe Liszt' while teaching the rest of his life. Known for his symphonies, symphonic poems, oratorios, piano pieces, and Hungarian rhapsodies..
