Original lithograph portrait, circa 1890 (9 1/2 x 12 1/2 inch) of his head and shoulders. Franz Liszt (1811-1886), a Hungarian piano virtuoso and composer. Toured Europe on the concert stage, 1833-48, and settled in Weimar devoting himself to composing, writing, and conductor of court concerts (1848-61). Joined the Franciscan order in Rome in 1861and became 'Abbe Liszt' while teaching the rest of his life. Known for his symphonies, symphonic poems, oratorios, piano pieces, and Hungarian rhapsodies..
