Inscribed by Author(s)original burgundy boards with gold gilt are bright and very attractive if a little shelf rubbed. the binding has been carefully restored and is strong. the book is inscribed (but not signed) on the front end page "miss nora snillett? with the author's compliments july 1905" unfortunately the front end page is very dark and one has to use very bright light to see the inscription. the map is present at the back of the books. there are a few small tears in it. 11 illustrations are called for. 9 are present. gold gilt on page edges. a few age related spots in the text. overall a very handsome first edition..
