Signed by Author(s)A letter of passage from the French Legation in Belgium requesting all possibile assistance from the French customs officials to the named travellers. Dated: 26 fevrier 1897. Signed: Montholon (Charles-Jean-Tristan). Montholon was the son, by his mistress, of the disreputable general and close friend of Napoleon, Charles Tristan Montholon (he chose exile in St Helena with Napoleon). Template letter with heading [Legation de France en Belgique]. Names of the travellers, the date and annotations are in Montholon's hand. Franked [Legation de France a Bruxelles]. In sound good condition. Many calculations (apparently concurrent in age) on the reverse of the page. Folded twice. Mild handling marking. The paper is undamaged and strong. The inks and printing are very clear and sure. Ambassador Montholon died in 1899. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: No Binding. Jacket: No Jacket
