British Colonel John Leader, after being badly wounded in World War I, was recruited to be a military instructor at the University of Oregon at the end of 1917. There he taught classes and led training exercises, also helping found the ROTC program. The book consists of four chapter on Oregon during the war and four chapters after. Col. Leader was a long-time resident of British Columbia after leaving the university. This copy is inscribed twice by Col. Leader: "In memory of the 'Glorious Year' where one the the keenest brains in Oregon, William K. Clark, acting as Assistant Chjief of Staff helped enormously in the military of Oregon herein described. To him & to his most charming wife the author proffers deep deep gratitude for their friendship and hopes desperately that they will not quite forget him. Nov. 28th 1922." (and) "Cutie Clark, with the undying ----- of the author of this classic. Original green wrappers with black lettering. Chipped at bottom of spine. 5 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches. 147 pages.. Book.
