Jewish historian, particularly in the area of 19th-century studies. He was ordained by Hebrew Union College in 1943 and served as rabbi in Mobile, Alabama (1943-44) , Mansfield, Ohio (1946-48) , and Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, Philadelphia (1949- ) . From 1944 to 1946 he was a U. S. Navy chaplain. He was promoted to Rear-Admiral, the first Jewish Chaplain to achieve this rank. He retired in 1978. Korn chaired the Central Conference of American Rabbis' Commission on History (1953-57) , and was president of the American Jewish Historical Society (1959-61) " (EJ) .
