Alexander William Kinglake (1809-1891) served as a Member of Parliament, but was more famous as a travel writer and historian. His most popular work was "Eothen", a travel writing about his journey through Syria, Palestine and Egypt. He also wrote "Invasion of the Crimea", an 8 volume work published between 1863 and 1887..
