Kimball Webster (1829-1916) was from New Hampshire and left for the gold fields in 1849 traveling overland on the California Trail with a group of fellow gold seekers from the same state. He first worked the Feather River and Nelson Creek mines. Descriptions of Independence, Mo; Marysville, Ca and Sacramento, Ca during the 1850 flood. Later he was a government surveyor in Oregon before returning to New Hampshire in 1855. The book was compiled from Webster's diary and manuscript recollections by the editor George Browne.
