This number includes a two-page spread of a "Scene at the opening of the annual exhibition of fine arts in the Salon of the Palais de L'Industrie, Champs Elysees, Paris". Noteworthy items of news include the award of the Royal Geographical Society's gold medal to Captain F. E. Younghusband, whose portrait is also provided, and the appointment of A. R. Tucker (portrait provided) as Bishop of East Equatorial Africa, two years after the death of Bishop Parker, who had succeeded Bishop Hannington, murdered in Uganda.
