Covers have slight browning and offsetting. Publishing information on the title page: "London: British Museum; Printed by Order of the Trustees; 1935." Printing information on the verso of the title page: "Printed in Great Britain at the University Press, Oxford by John Johnson, Printer to the University." The book is split into two parts. Pages 1-35 consists of the text; the remaining pages are unnumbered and contain the plates, which show examples of ancient Greek and Roman portrait sculptures in the form of reprinted photographs. Excerpt from the Preface by E. J. Forsdyke, Keeper of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the British Museum: "This book is an essay on Greek and Roman Portrait Sculpture illustrated by material in the British Museum. It will therefore serve also for a Guide to the portraits exhibited in various Galleries of Greek and Roman Antiquities: the Greek Portrait Corridor, the third Graeco-Roman Room, the Roman Gallery, and the Terracotta, Bronze, and Gem Rooms.
