Top edges lightly dust-soiled and aged,fore-edges slightly brighter and cleaner with some minimal grubbing; contents bright,tight and clean - solid and sound.Signatures all glued in,none loose or separated - remarkable considering the book's estimated age! UK,slim,small 8vo wraps,1st edn,ii-iiipp+1-175pp [paginated] includes foreword by Jimmy Simpson,12 chapters/ sections,profuse contemporary b/w photographs throughout the text and the book,2 b/w circuit maps (St. John's and Clypse),race progress charts,index of race results,index of machines,and an index of riders.Plus [unpaginated] a b/w portrait photographic frntis (HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - patron of the Auto-Cycle Club - later the A.-C.U.),a title page and a oil/petrol company's b/w advert as last page. First named author was also a TT competitor in the years 1938/9,1947/8/9 and 1951 respectively. Jimmy H. Simpson (1898-1981) was a British motorcycle racer and one of the most successful riders prior to WW2 winning the European Championship 5 times between 1924-34 on both 350cc and 500cc bikes,competed in 13 Isle of Man TT races (1922-34) winning once and podium placed 10 times.His name was given to the Jimmy Simpson Trophy,which is an annual award at the Isle of Man TT Races,presented to the rider who completes the fastest lap of the meeting,during the Junior, Lightweight (250cc) and Senior TT races.A replica of the trophy is awarded to those riders who make the fastest lap in each of the other two races.
