Jimmy H. Simpson (1898-1981) was a British motorcycle racer and one of the most successful riders prior to WW2 winning the European Championship 5 times between 1924-34 on both 350cc and 500cc bikes,competed in 13 Isle of Man TT races (1922-34) winning once and podium placed 10 times.His name was given to the Jimmy Simpson Trophy,which is an annual award at the Isle of Man TT Races,presented to the rider who completes the fastest lap of the
meeting,during the Junior, Lightweight (250cc) and Senior TT races.A replica of the trophy is awarded to those riders who make the fastest lap in each of the other two races.
