Hattingh, Gert : Die Onoorwinlikes - Springbokke in Australie

Gert Hattingh, 1972

Complete. This comprehensively owned book covers the riotous (literally) Springbok rugby tour of Australia in 1971. The tour is best known for the large scale anti-apartheid protests throughout the country rather than any success on the team's behalf. It marked a rubicon point for the South Africans who were trying to keep themselves within the international sporting community. This is a former library copy (Cape Provincial Library Service) with consequent labels, stamps, annotations and wear and tear. The cover is secure and sure. It is much worn with injuries to the faces front and back. The binding is sure. Within there is considerable evidence of use with some tear to the edges of some pages. The pages are complete, dramatic, the illustrations well-sourced and placed, clear and sure. In Afrikaans throughout. Whilst this is a record of the tour the book does not shy away from the controversy and covers the demonstrations and opposition to the tour. In the whole an interesting and poignant book. fk. Book Condition: Poor. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
