15 holograph pages on lined paper of 8 x 10 1/2. Hylah Hasbrouck (1882-1979) was a long time member of The Fortnightly Club of Warwick, New York. The club was based on the Chautaqua Club model, was a group of about 40 local citizens who met to give and hear educational presentations, discuss issues and socialize. In 1921, when she was secretary of the club, she wrote a short history of the organization's first 25 years. In it, she gives the names of the 14 founding members, the first officers and the initial committies. How the club arrived at a program, what the 'hot topics" were and meeting places are described. Votes were taken on the issues of the day. The club favored suffrage, prohibition, the League of Nations and the annexing of the Philippine Islands.
