Glassine dust wrapper has an original illustrated sticker closing the top flap on the back of the wrapper. Some pages unopened. Pages and covers of the book are very clean and intact. Dust wrapper has some chipping at the edges and corners. A fine book in a fine dust wrapper. This book was written by Herbert H. Gowen (1864-1960), an Anglican missionary from England and academic who studied Asian cultures. Gowen wrote about the history of China and Japan and was the chair of the Department of Oriental Subjects at the University of Washington from 1909-1929. This book is about Christianity in Japan..
