The True 1st edition. A fine association /presentation copy to the publisher Peter Randall inscribed "Isobel and Peter (Randall), warmest wishes, Nadine. Peter Ralph Randall (b.1935- ) was an anti-apartheid publisher in South Africa, and was banned by the former South African government between 1977 and 1981. From 1973 to Oct 1977 Randall was Director of Ravan Press, which was established in 1972 by Beyers Naudé, Danie van Zyl and Randall (the unusual spelling of “Ravan” is due to the word being made up of the initial letters of Randall, van Zyl, and Naudé). Books inscribed by Gordimer and simply signed with her first name are relatively rare, indicating a close friendship with the recipient.
