Collection of ten original printed promotional ephemera from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company of California. Nine of the ephemera are letters; one is a price list. 1922-1923; multiple dates in 1922 (January 28, February 13, February 14, February 20, April 3, June 21, October 6, October 10, and October 25), and May 3, 1923. 8 1/4" x 11." Ten pages (each piece of ephemera is one page), complete. Letters and price list are very clean and intact but have vertical and horizontal fold lines (which may be original), slight wrinkling, light age toning, and the occasional mark. Very Good copies. A collection of ten promotional ephemera in the form of nine letters and one price list from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Eight of the letters are from the Goodyear branch in Los Angeles, California. Seven of the letters are addressed to Mr. C. F. Nelson of Olalla, Washington (one letter reads, "V F Nelson," a possible typo). Nelson appears to be a tire dealer. Five of the letters to Nelson are signed in black ink by T. W. Gate of Goodyear Tire Sales. One letter to Nelson has the facsimile signature of J. K. Kennelly, Manager of the Advertising Department. The last letter to Nelson is signed in blue ink by K. K. Kenneday of Goodyear Direct Mail Service. The other letters and price list do not have a specific addressee except one addressed to L. E. Carpenter, Branch Manager of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company of Seattle, Washington. The letter addressed to Carpenter has a printed signature of A. F. Osterloh, Vice President and General Manager. A letter with a generally address to "Goodyear Service Station Dealers" is signed in black ink by J. K. Hough, Manager of Tire Sales. The following is a summation of the contents in each letter by date. January 28, 1922: Gate promotes the price and staple cotton used in the manufacture of Goodyear tires. February 13, 1922: Gate advertises the price and longevity of Goodyear tires. February 14, 1922: Gate informs Nelson of the "recovery of the tire business last summer" and suggests he try Goodyear's Spring Dating Plan in which he can buy Goodyear products through a three-month installment plan. February 20, 1922: Gate recommends that Nelson place an order for March delivery so that he will have enough tire stock to carry him through the month. April 3, 1922: a service station price list with a header from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Inc. of Akron, Ohio. June 21, 1922: Hough writes to "Goodyear Service Station Dealers" that Goodyear has stock readily available should they need it. October 6, 1922: a Goodyear Telegram from Vice President Osterloh to Branch Manager L. E. Carpenter in which the former describes the terms of payment and purchasing stock for the dealers that Carpenter oversees. October 10, 1922: Kennelly asks Nelson what his customers read so that Goodyear can target its advertising and place its advertisements in relevant publications. October 25, 1922: Gate announces another Spring Dating Plan and explains that the plan gives dealers the opportunity to maintain stock through the winter and defer payment until the spring after the tires have sold. May 3, 1923: Kenneday promotes two of Goodyear's tires, the two-cure "All Weather Tread" and the single-cure "Wingfoot Cross Rib Cord.". Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
