A group of men led by Brigadier General James Mason (1843-1918) sought to establish a speakers forum that would encourage thoughtful discussion and public discourse on Canada's political situation. The club's name was derived from Canada's "imperial bond" to Britain at the time. More than 3,500 addresses have been delivered at the Empire Club of Canada, and it is still active to this day. This book includes a list of the club's officers, Constitution, and a memorandum about the club's affiliation with the Royal Colonial Institute. In the back of the book is a list of the club members from 1911-1912. The following are the addresses in this book: "A Legacy from the United Empire Loyalists" by C. W. Robinson," "Imperialism" by James Bryce, "The Empire, Old and New" by Norval W. Helme, "Bahamas, West Indies, and Canada" by William Grey-Wilson, "The Irishman as an Empire Builder" by Randall C.
