Giovanni Battista Nicolosi : Mexicum

Black & White, Excellent, originally published in 4 separate sheets but joined together and laid on acid free canvas for long term preservation., Size : 780x915 (mm), 30.75x36 (Inches)

A large scale superb 17th century map of the entire North American continent.

This is the second state of the map.
"It is in the west that the map's most important feature is found. The R. Escondido, representing the Rio Grande, is for the first time correctly depicted flowing south-east from New Mexico and discharging itself into the Gulf of Mexico. . . The second state of the map included a much expanded nomenclature. The east coast saw the mistaken addtion of the defeated Swedish colony on the Delaware. L. de S Louys is now named and shaded. The R. Escondido, named near the mouth, now bears upriver in addition R del Norte. The old appellation of the river." (Burden), Burden 355
