Gill writes to enclose a copy of a letter intended for the Cape papers. He states that due to his having just returned from Kalk Bay there is no time to put the articles in in time for Tuesday. The rest of the letter is devoted to telling of his wife's indisposition, and saying that if no improvement he wil try the effects of a voyage to England. Sir David Gill FRS (12 June 1843 – 24 January 1914) was a Scottish astronomer who is known for measuring astronomical distances, for astrophotography, and for geodesy.
