Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,matt wrap-around grey background with superimposed white double-lined border to a white-lettered captioned GILES b/w cartoon on a red bordered background to front card cover,with capitalised,black+red lettered title (author's name in red,rest of title in black letters respectively) and capitalised,black-lettered synopsis of contents; spine/backstrip without any reading creases and with similarly coloured+lettered title as front cover,and publisher's black-lettered colophon to foot of same,rear cover with a contemporary facsimile DAILY EXPRESS newspaper front page (Tuesday MAY 8 1945) and a pale lilac panel with repeated capitalised red-lettered title and black lettered text explanation of book's raison d'etre.Slipcase bright and reasonably clean,but with some inevitable shelf-wear,bumping and rubbing with miniscule loss to edges,corners and extremities - top front edges of s/case with a small 1/4" closed tear each side front+rear, causing the split to fold back on itself internally,when book is either removed or replaced - head+foot of spine/backstrip with uniform gap (as produced?) and no other major nicks,tears or splits present.
