Condition of binding: Wear, age toning, soiling, scattered discoloration spots, shelf wear (with scattered chips), rubbing. Endpapers: Old damp spots/foxing, some soiling, previous owner's name penciled on first pastedown endpaper. No bookplates or stickers. Text block: A few soiling marks, creases, else clear and very readable pages. Overall, book is Good. Not a former library book. This music book (words and notes for piano) is designed for schools in rural areas and in smaller towns, which typically have a music teacher available [during the 1800s]. The music is written so that soprano and alto parts form perfect two-part songs, and by adding the lower part on the bass staff perfect three-part work is supplied. The tenor part is presented for use in institutes, and whenever gentlemen are present whose voices are suited to the part. There is also a handy glossary.
