Scheuermann, Jr. on front pastedown that shows two monks peering over a book. Front free endpaper has a former ownership inscription in black ink: "Major E. H. Pearce, U.S.A." Pages and covers are very clean and undamaged. There is one loose plate on Page 92, but the rest of the pages appear to be intact. Binding is tight. Katharine Fullerton Gerould (1879-1944) was an American writer and essayist. In her time, she became one of the country's most prominent writers of short stories and essays. The Artistocratic West is a travelog and history of some of states in the western U.S. such as Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and California. Major cities are highlighted, such as Reno and San Francisco. Gerould gives her impressions and observations of each locale and also describes various points of interest.. Book.
