GERMAINS ("A Rifleman"),V[ictor] W[allace]: : THE TRUTH ABOUT KITCHENER

LONDON.JOHN LANE,THE BODLEY HEAD,1925.

ISBN No ISBN.

UK,12mo HB+dw/dj,1st edn.VG++/VG++.No owner inscrptn, but a red ink stamped rectangle "WITHDRAWN FROM PLYMOUTH LIBRARY SERVICES" to ffe - absence noted of any other ex-library alpha-numerical markings/stamps to either the bds, body of text and the dw/dj too,dw/dj unclipped (being priced to foot of upper panel of same and to the spine/backstrip also). Endpapers could bear sympathetic replacement,as free pages of both front+ rear eps are tanned/aged,though both pastedowns unaffected, being protected by dw/dj's inner flaps.Brown paper dw/dj with black ink lettering, with publisher's adverts+critics' reviews to inner flaps and rear panel, with negligible shelf-wear and creasing to edges - no major loss and no major nicks or tears present - 99.9% complete.Top edge coloured red with some light dust-soiling,fore-edges minimally aged with minimal foxing/spotting;contents bright, tight and clean - no dog-ear readng creases to any pages' corners - no page-edge tanning or ageing.Bright, crisp, clean, sharp-cornered,publisher's original red cloth bds with bright, crisp, stamped, non-oxidised gilt letters to spine/ backstrip. An impressed one line border edge to upper bd and a back to back capital letter K within a circle impressed centrally, towards top third of upper bd. To foot of spine/backstrip,and immediately below publisher's name, inexplicably,a 1/5th" horizontal strip is sunned/faded - though there is no commensurable loss to dw/dj to account for the sunning/fading. 12mo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,ixpp-1-352pp [paginated] includes contents list/table, 8 chapters,appendices(3),an index,8pp publisher's catalogue (with critics' reviews) to rear.Plus,[unpaginated] 4pp blanks,half-title+title pages, quotation+ dedication pages, and a title separator page. Described hard but fairly and honestly,it really is an exceptional example, given it's ex-public library provenance and also it's age.Uncommon title, even more uncommon with a dw/dj,and in such an excellent state/condition too.

UK,12mo HB+dw/dj,1st edn.
