Simenon’s “American Period, ” when both he and his character were living in the United States, has been hailed as his very best: Maigret à New York, originally published in French in 1947, is among the most famous of these. The English translation was published as part of Doubleday’s incredibly popular Crime Club series, which ran from 1928 to 1991. Bit of staining to boards, otherwise very good condition.
