First edition thus, published by The Limited Editions Club in an issue of 1500 numbered sets signed by the illustrator who provides numerous black and white line drawings (this being #285). Complete in two volumes. 12mo. 263pp (across both volumes). Cloth-backed patterned paper-covered boards, lettered, decorated and ornately ruled in gold at the spines. Fore- and bottom edges untrimmed. Some fox spotting throughout. Former owner bookplate and small personal library reference plate and stamp to the upper front pastedowns, and a different bookplate to both front free endpapers. A nice bright example of a handsomely produced set, housed in the original stiff card slipcase, chafed and dust soiled, with the title label lettering somewhat indistinct. The ninth publication by the Limited Editions Club, which was founded by George Macy, later Managing Director of The Nonesuch Press, in 1929.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover
