Original receipt on light brown paper with printed text and handwriting in black ink. The receipt confirms payment from a customer for a twelve-month subscription to "Wood's Library of Standard Medical Authors." Dateline June 6, 1884 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 4 7/8" x 8 1/4." Paper and handwriting are very clean and intact. A couple vertical and horizontal fold lines. A few minuscule closed tears on the left edge. The handwritten portions fill in the name, location, and date. The receipt reads, "In consideration of the sum of fifteen dollars, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned agrees to forward to Dr. G. H. Bickel, at Rehrersburg, Berks Co., PA, free of expense, from his Warehouse in Philadelphia, the Twelve Volumes of 'Wood's Library of Standard Medical Authors' for 1884, in the following manner, viz.: All the volumes published to date of this receipt at once, and thereafter, one volume per month until the full number of Twelve Volumes have been so delivered.".
