Original letter handwritten in black ink on beige postcard. Signed, "C. J. Corfe." The front of the postcard has the recipient's name and address. The letter is written on the back. No date, circa 1903 (postmarked year of "[19]03" on front). Location is Chelsea, England. 3 1/2" x 4 1/2." One page. Postcard is clean and intact overall but has a band of discoloration and surface chipping on front, foxing or staining on back, and a few creases and wrinkles. A Good copy. Charles John Corfe (1843-1921) was an English clergyman and the inaugural bishop in Korea. In this brief letter, Corfe writes to Mrs. Wiles of Kensington about possibly staying at her (and presumably Mr. Wiles's) place. The letter reads, "I am going to ask for a dinner & bed tomorrow (Wednesday) if you are both at home & at leisure. I will try to call tomorrow a.m. for an answer--but if it is not convenient perhaps you could let me have a [--?] here.". Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Good. Binding: No Binding
