This is believed to be the first comprehensive official historical account produced by any of the nations engaged in the Second World War. It has been written in order to give the public and authentic summary of the Canadian Army's operations at as early a date as possible. It is intended for the general reader and is couched in non-technical language. It is based upon Canadian and Allied official records and upon the interrogation of enemy commanders and the examination of enemy documents. The volume includes four chapters on the Italian campaign and six on the campaign in North-West Europe. It also deals with the defence of Hong Kong and gives a particularly full account of the Dieppe Raid of 1942. The Army's miscellaneous activities in various regions are outlined. The book is illustrated with reproductions in full colour of twelve paintings by Canadian Army War Artists, and with fifteen maps in colour and three in black and white.. Book Condition: Good.
