Original lithographed seed packet for the plant, fruit, or vegetable named in the title. Contains no seeds. Front features a color illustration of pole lima beans (Large White Pole Lima) with one of the pods halved to show the interior beans. A few light splashes of color in the background. Lima beans are one of many bean species classed under bush beans and pole beans, depending on the style of growth. For example, bush lima beans (also known as butter beans) grow on their own to about two feet tall while pole lima beans grow on a vine and need a support (also known as runner beans (grow clockwise) or climbing beans (grow counter-clockwise)). The Card Seed Company was founded in 1908 in Fredonia, New York. The company sold seeds for a variety of plants, fruits, and vegetables. The Card Seed Co. closed during the 1920s. The Genesee Valley Lithographic Company was founded in 1912 by Herman J. Meyering in Rochester, New York. The company was among the first to print seed packets in New York. The company's name was changed to Hammer Lithograph after it was acquired by Walter Hammer. The company is still in business to this day but is currently known as Hammer Packaging.. Ephemera.
