Handwritten by a boy who identifies himself as I.R.L.W. Brown of Dallas Texas attending the Gould School writes in the Preface found on page 17: "This little book is beautifully dedicated to My Darling Mother who has labored with me many days to make me what I am. She has worked eleven years more or less to make me a good, manly, religious, industrious, kind, gentle, and sweet boy. I will try to stay what she has made me and improve too. It is also dedicated to My Darling Father who has tried to make me the best kind of a boy too for more or less than eleven years. I have tried to find little things which might amuse or interest them." The 8 1/2" by 7", dated December 27, 1905 on the inside cover, contains 91 numbered pages contains headings such as Little Notes of Interest; Little conundrums and jokes; Proverbs; "Now Keel Right Over" (illustrations); The Star Spangled Banner; poems, and pages with drawings and/or cut-outs dedicated to each month of the year.
