F.M.C : 1913 HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT DIARY OF A STUDENT, TEACHER AND DEVOUT CHRISTIAN GIRL

48mo - over 3" - 4" tall. On offer is the handwritten, manuscript diary of a young woman only identified as F.M.C. A devoted diarist for the most part and a devout Christian always, this young woman shares her active life with her diary and in doings so details life in 1913 Chicago. She is a teacher and a student and active in the church. See provides notes in her very tight but readable script of the entertainments she goes to, the sermons she hears and the preachers that speak. Sometimes one does wonder as she uses shorthand to express herself. She does a great job too of chronicling the births, deaths and illnesses of those in her sphere. Genealogists will find a treasure trove of Illinois information. Many verses and snippets she wants to remember are also annotated. The diary is in good condition and would be better save for the spine cap has gone missing. Lovely Victorian cameo-like picture inset as part of the diary on the cover.. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Cloth
